A Historic Graduation at Chatsworth

Monday, June 8, 2020

On 28th May, the Chatsworth community virtually honoured and rejoiced with Class of 2020 in one-of-a-kind graduation ceremony. Not a graduation anyone would have ever imagined but a momentous one all the same, the historic online ceremony marked the official completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme of our Year 13s.

Inspiring speeches, student gratitude and messages, teachers' congratulatory wishes and a special performance were meticulously lined up in an exclusive video presentation and watched by viewers far and near. No graduation would be complete without the movement of tassels. In an after-graduation 'party', teachers and families signed in online to witness and cheer for the moment as Mr. McCallum, Camps Principal (Bukit Timah) and Head of Secondary proudly officiated the tassel ceremony and presented the Class of 2020.

Indeed, much has been said about how things would never go back to the way they were. Mr Sherwood, Head of Schools in his speech said to the graduates, "I hope that your new normal is one with cleaner water, air and energy sources, a new normal with kindness, more love, understanding and tolerance, a new normal with global collaboration and mutual respect. We look forward to your new normal". This, underscores, one of the objectives of a Chatsworth education where we motivate students to meet challenges with confidence and enthusiasm as they navigate the unknowns and adapt to a new future ahead of them.

Congratulations to our graduates on achieving a significant milestone! We wish them the very best as they embark on the next lap.
